Oakland native Kev Choice is a classically-trained pianist, composer, and MC who uses wit and creative lyricism to bring a positive and inspiring message to his unique blend of jazz, R&B, and soul. Working with artists such as Ms. Lauryn Hill and Michael Franti, Choice has toured all over the world. He also shares his talent with the Oakland School of the Arts, where he is an educator and mentor. Oakland Symphony has commissioned a piano concerto by Kev, to be played by the man himself.
Schubert was only 19 when he wrote his exuberant 5th symphony. Like Kev, he bent the genre of his day and discovered a unique symphonic voice of his own.
Special guests: The Oakland School of the Arts Concert Choir
Oakland Symphony’s middle school orchestra, MUSE VIVO, joins the symphony as they play Rossini’s famous “Barber of Seville” overture–with a wink and a nod to Bugs Bunny.
