Oakland Spirit Orchestra (OSO) is an ensemble that features talented kids from Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary, Lafayette Elementary, West Oakland Middle School, Westlake Middle School, Montera Middle School, Coliseum College Prep, McClymonds High School, and Oakland School for the Arts. The aim of the Orchestra is to uplift the spirits of the world through music and kindness. Oakland Spirit Orchestra’s music is its own unique mix of popular tunes, world music, classical favorites, and jazz. The young musicians of the Orchestra are not only playing music, they are creating it too. The kids construct their own arrangements, write their own music, and improvise.
